While I am aware that politcs is have place in our lives and preps, I also think it can “drag” us away from focusing on more important things.
Idea is to “channel” that to certain subforum ONLY on new forum, se we ll see how that gonna work.April 20, 2018 at 8:57 pm #68341
Actually it is interesting idea, and something to look into.April 20, 2018 at 8:55 pm #68340

Living in socialistic system is huge topic, I could tell you a lot about it.
One thing here is important I think-even here people often “cry” for a socialism, but reason for that could be that actually situation today in some fields is worse then it was for example in communistic Yugoslavia in 1975.
I also remember some things being better then here then today. But it is about post war society here (and waiting for next war).
It is important that I also remember singing songs for “Great leader”, religion being almost banned, absence of freedom of speech, secret communist prisons, rows of people early in the morning in front of the stores waiting for “rare articles” (like milk, cooking oil) “one party-one leader” society…
There are places here, like some prisons (for the “enemies of state”) that even today 28 years after fall of communism have “spooky aura”, and people do not want to talk about it too much.
My humble opinion is that people who most talk (and wish) for socialism-communism that was in practice are actually do not have clue how that look in reality.
And that is dangerous.December 11, 2017 at 9:54 pm #55213
Quite interesting topic!
As I already mentioned probably, I lived in socialistic (communism) society, my childhood and schooling was full of let s say “dogmas” that I actually trusted in, because whole system worked on that way that you simply believed in things that today look ridiculous.
As a man who saw that system I really hope that study from GS post is simply wrong or false, or that millenials simply do not know what they are talking about (like Mountain Biker put it).
Otherwise you might be in deep s..t.November 28, 2017 at 4:26 pm #53749
First I want to thank you for your input here, some of you putting real effort in this forum, and I do appreciate that, really.
Nobody is on front seats quiet often, actually to be honest with you sometimes there is no front seats at all to sit in.
It is how it is right now, my personal situation (and lack of time and knowledge) simply leave huge gap in taking care about forum right now.
Or in other words for now it is like it is.
There is no plan for” turning lights off”, actually there are plans for more lights.November 28, 2017 at 3:51 pm #53745

Here is my input here about owning the weapon and right to have weapon.
In order to have weapon here (handgun) you need to go to whole set of different “tests”.
First you need to prove that you mentally and phisically in right condition, with physical exams, exams over with psychiatrist, psycologist etc.
After that you need to collect papers that you do not have (any) criminal record. After that you go to classes to learn weapon basics.
During collecting of all papers folks from local police station usually do kind of investigation-or in reality just couple of conversations with your work collegues and neighbours, about your personality, for example if your neighbour hates you he says that you have rage problems sometimes, or drink too much and your license is out of the option.
After all that you get permit to buy one pistol and (optinally) one revolver.
Whole procedure to get licence usually take around 6 months.
Just to collect all papers and finish exams and similar cost you around 500 USD.
To buy pistol-glock 21 for example will cost you around 850 USD
One .45 round is 1 USD
Average salary (monthly) here is around 450-500 USD.
When you get your licence, when you buy your gun, then you have right to buy around 30 rounds per year (not more). Usually when you buy another 30 rounds you need to prove where you “spent” first 30 rounds.
Once you get your licence and your gun you can lost both just because one bar fight (even you left your gun at home) because you are “violent”.
Any kind of violence record automatically means losing of your gun and licence, usually forever.
This all above goes for Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Bosnia… whole number of countries here around, with slight differences in expenses maybe.
What is scary here is actually fact that system is strongly encouraging you not to have gun, not to be armed. And that is really scary we all know why.
OK, other story here is that you could buy AK at black market for 150 USD with four magazines, assoult west, and small marks on rifle butt meaning kill count but if caught you go to prison from one to two years.
I remember from last war armed groups going from door to door with lists of people who have weapon at home, that papers with license owners names are taken from police station.
You could give them your gun or die.
Being on someone s list as a gun owner is scary idea too here.
Right vs permission (privilege or allowance)
The near unique ability of the American to purchase and possess firearms is completely different than Europe.
Hey it’s Thursday, I want a new 9mm Glock with a dozen 33 round mags, an FAL and a Benelli shotgun with a 10 round mag. I can walk into my local dealer and walk out with them.
No permission, no licenses, no local LE signatures.
Because we have that right.
Because our forefathers fought to defend that right.
We do not have right here to have weapon, we have illusion that we are protecting ourselves because system gave us option to have pistol.
It is nothing when SHTF.
Thanks God for black market.
In several interviews in last couple of months they asked me same question: “what do you like in US about preppers”?
Answer is same: your RIGHT to have weapons.
Of course that right can be taken from you, but you have long history of having that RIGHT, and I think it can not be taken without huge s..t.June 11, 2016 at 5:10 pm #49094
That was our primary goal, to make it as realistic is possible.

Agree with returning to the traditional gender roles, it was like that and probably gonna be like that again, yeah “meterosexual” gonna have hard time for sure. It is world where old ways simply kick in again. Adapt or die.
Older generations have lot of advantage there over the kids today, it is not all about strength and muscle, especially if you own assault rifle.
Gold coins, gold and silver and similar is always interesting topic, and just like caliber topic (or similar) is going to be always kinda controversial.
From my experience, I always like to have something that I can use for real, things like food, weapon, tools etc.
Yes, in my time of SHTF there were people who seek for the gold simply because they could get it from (hungry) people for low amount of food (or medicines, ammo etc.) and then use it trough their connections outside of region where war was.
What if whole world gonna be thrown in one big SHTF?
My situation was specific maybe, but again I simply like to have things that are useful.
Maybe after the some time of SHTF people gonna develop some system where you could use silver or gold, maybe not.
It is useful to have it as a savings in normal times, and it might be useful to have it stored and wait when collapse is gone, and some system kick in (if), but in the middle of prolonged collapse might be more useful to have farming skills and bank of seeds or reloading machine.

Boy leader is indeed nuts, and it’s highly unlikely any of his military leaders aren’t fully aware of that also. How far it will go is a toss up.
Agree, we are kinda get used on him and his statements, in a way that he is just nuts and he will just go on with threats and nothing more then that.
But it is scary what he can start.February 3, 2016 at 11:09 pm #47051
