Not really anything survival/prepping related, other than a book I gifted to myself, called The Reluctant Partisan vol 2 that I pre-ordered back in early Dec. Pretty good so far, right up my alley.

It’s relatively easy to use encryption and the like to hide your identity online (as well as mobile devices, but that doesn’t include what YOU give out). Personally, I don’t really give a hoot about being on internet forums or what have you, because I don’t do/say anything illegal, or give out information that could get me or mine harmed or targeted.
However, no matter how well your internet or mobile security is, there’s someone out there who can crack into it. So if you don’t want something known, don’t put it into a computer/phone/tablet.
(Also, hey everyone! I missed y’all)

What a harsh day up here lads. I’m shocked, saddened, but mostly p*ssed off. P*ssed off that this happened here, that he killed one of ours at one of our most sacred places, and our house of democracy (or lack there of, at times).
2 separate attacks in just a few days, 2 Canadian soldiers killed. This has made our blood boil.

I don’t think they’ve been releasing the real numbers since it started, really.
The thing is with this, once it starts going, it’s like a snowball going downhill. This will keep on going until it burns itself out. The medical field of the nations in africa who are dealing with this are already extremely strained, once more people become infected, they can’t treat more because they simply lack the resources. That means more spreading or it, and more dying.
Now with the holidays and flu season coming up, people will be on the move more, as well as getting sick. Who’s to say that the flu like symptoms that people initially get isn’t a basic flu, but ebola?
I think there will be a lot of false reports, due to people who get the flu thinking they have it, but there is a good chance that we see this more outside of africa.

It’s not real. That “article” has been making it’s rounds since 2007.

I’m one of the guys who doesn’t have any armour, nor do I really foresee myself getting any soon. I’m of the mindset of “high speed, low drag” for lack of a better term. Basically my rigs are set up to be as light as possible while carrying the essentials, being ammo, water, and IFAK.
But honestly, this is exactly what works for me. I’m currently living in a very rural area, and my best defence of my community is patrols out in the space who are quick, quiet and camo’d. Were I in a more urban area, however, where I wouldn’t be performing longer, on-foot recce’s of my communities perimeter, I would armour up.
It’s basically just a whole mobility versus firepower, or in this case, defensive equipment. I just choose mobility.

Not from that, 74. It takes a wee bit of time for it to get here to hit earth.

Tweva you’re correct. Yes, Ebola is a threat, but it’s so far away, and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. Sure it’s a good idea to keep an eye on it, to potentially get a heads up if it does get worse and closer, but one shouldn’t get so far deep into the doom and gloom to where it effects you so much.
After all, life is still pretty great for now for the most of us. Take it all in whilst we can, eh?

It does get better, but yes at first it is a little dry. If you can get into it and picture yourself in that situation it will be a bit more entertaining.

Gypsy is currently off grid, so her not being here is understandable. As for the others, I’ve no clue. Some people just don’t bother with some forums after some time (I’m guilty of that), and some others just leave for whatever reasons they have, without notice.
There have been plenty that have posted a bit on here and then just never come back, and it is somewhat annoying since they do contribute some good stuff in there little time spent here, but we do have a pretty solid core group that is slowly expanding. Hopefully we’ll keep growing, even if it is slow, so that we can continue to share tips and ideas, and as well to just converse with people of similar mindsets.
But, it is still in the nice weather months, people could just be busy with life and prepping. Hopefully we will see some of the regulars who’ve left start coming back in the next couple months.
