World Bank warns of food riots as rising food prices push world populations toward revolt
http://www.naturalnews.com/045369_World_Bank_food_riots_emergency_preparedness.html#
According to the World Bank, rising food prices have caused 51 food riots in 37 countries since 2007. These include Tunisia, South Africa, Cameroon and India, among other nations.
“Food price shocks can both spark and exacerbate conflict and political instability,” warns the report.
A World Bank blog entry by Senior Economist Jose Cuesta entitled “No Food, No Peace” (2) warns that “It is quite likely that we will experience more food riots in the foreseeable future… food price shocks have repeatedly led to spontaneous — typically urban — sociopolitical instability.”

June 6, 2014 at 3:46 am #15832We have seen similar happenings in the U$A, mostly “toy” riots for the hottest Christmas gifts. But the EBT card malfunction at that WalMart last year was similar to a food riot,

Folks will come pouring out of the big cities once the trucks and EBT cards stop…
Usually these “events” are test cases for TPTB to judge what will happen under certain circumstances.
The bank bail-ins in the Euro-Zone (Greece, Cyprus, etc) are trial balloons for the “Big Event”, in the U$A.

June 6, 2014 at 1:06 pm #15873The whole riots and revolutons in the middle east what is now called the “Arab spring” started when suddenly food became too expensive. People are willing to suffer a lot but when they go hungry… SHTF!
I think a lot of governments paid attention to that lesson. That’s why there are probably these extensive food stamp programs. Just keep them fed (and somehow entertained). It worked in ancient Rome, it seems to work today too.

June 6, 2014 at 3:41 pm #15888That policy works for centuries, cheap entertainment, and enough food for folks not to be hungry, nothing more.
Point is to keep folks always scared enough to be obedient.
Too much food means time for thinking about situation around them, and asking questions, no food means chaos. In my region there are enough reasons to go and torch the government this minute, but folks are simply occupied too much with fight for existence, for food and basic needs. Nobody thinking about reasons.
Funny and smart in the same time.
