The deaths from this new disease could be purely coincidences of symptomes of course because everyone is easy to panic these days thanks to all the news about Ebola. But maybe we have another major problem looming in South America. This new disease seems to kill within 72 hours so it should be easy to contain.
Anyway, I hope the Ebola outbreak really wakes everyone up. We are running out of antibiotics and in the next 10 – 20 years we will experience a lot more infectious disease problems. Time to get educated and equipped to deal with it!
The deaths of 10 people in the past week of a mysterious disease in several cities in Venezuela, including the capital of Caracas, have caused panic within the population and has prompted doctors to sound the alarm.
In its initial stages, the disease presents symptoms of fever and spots on the skin, and then produces large blisters and internal and external bleeding, according to data provided week stop by the College of Physicians of the state of Aragua, where the first cases were reported.

Sounds like ebola, not something new.September 18, 2014 at 12:03 am #24973
The problem is Venezuela will not tell anyone what it really is.September 18, 2014 at 1:53 am #24977
It is now time to seal the borders and start using Ellis Island again.September 18, 2014 at 8:52 am #24988
74, it sounds more like hemorrhagic smallpox I think. But then again the blisters are pretty big. Not that this would be any better news!
Anyway, a collapse because of some nasty disease is in my opinion even worse than one where we just have social unrest and rioting. Diseases really freak more or less everyone out!

Sealing the borders is the number one thing we need to do ASAP! Problem is O will not do it because of the vote the Dem’s get from them.September 18, 2014 at 12:23 pm #25001
They will never seal the borders because of the interruption of trade. We and everyone else are codependent with Just On Time items. When something stops working it impacts a chain event because their are no reserves. If we seal off the Mexican border 75% (my estimate) of our produce will disappear, along with anything else produced in mexico. There is a lot of manufacturing in mexico like pharmaceuticals and equipment shipped to the US that we don’t think about.September 18, 2014 at 3:30 pm #25011
The main thing we need to worry about coming across the border are infected PEOPLE. Not goods. We had a “sealed” border from people for decades up until recently. That way we could allow people into the country the correct way. It’s called immigration.
But I’ve been saying for years that people need to study plants and herbal medicine. I’ve been studying for about 4 years now and there is no disease that nature doesn’t have a cure for. NONE! Nature always provides a yin for the yang. It’s up to us to find it.
People would feel much more secure in there own future if they were less dependent on big pharma to save the day with the latest antiviral. The other point is, are you going to be able to afford it? Tamiflu is already ridiculously expensive and you can get better results with less side effects from Star Anise or Sweetgum….FOR FREE! How many people have Sweetgum trees in their yards? You know those hard spiky gum balls that fall all over the yard? Pick them when they’re green, right now, and smash them open with a hammer. Put the remains in a mason jar and fill it with 80 proof vodka or other spirits. In about 1-3 weeks you will see the liquid turn red to purple to black. Take about 30 drops 3x daily for any virus. It effectively shuts down the virus’ ability to replicate itself and will speed up your bodies recovery time.
If you’re out in the bush, just make a tea from the bark and drink it 3x daily. Same results…
This is just one example of how knowledge of herbal medicine can give you a peace of mind that few others share.September 18, 2014 at 3:47 pm #25023

Sealing the border wouldn’t stop the flow of goods, just divert them through customs and have actual inspections on them rather than just passing truck after truck through the borders unchallenged.
The use of quarantine facilities, such as Ellis Island from years past would slow the tide of immigrants and visitors for sure, but without having everyone pass through medical inspection, especially those who may have been in infected areas, is only going to allow the diseases in.
Anyone who bypasses ‘immigration’, regardless of how long they’ve been here, goes home. Immediately, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Anchor children? They can come back when they’re 18. Wouldn’t want to separate kids from their parents.
Legal immigrants? Here’s the forms, hope you can pass the test and have enough money to start out anew, it will be a requirement.September 18, 2014 at 7:53 pm #25026

That is right! Immigration is a joke right now. Legal immigration is the law of the land but the Dems like the votes they get from all the illegals. This will have to stop. The next time we have a large terrorist attack the Dems will get blamed for it.September 21, 2014 at 2:07 pm #25166
Sounds bad, we never know what it is gonna be at the end, I mean is it gonna “disappear” on itself or gain some dangerous potential.
I agree that it would be real chaos if something big happens, some infection that have real potential.
Simply system is not ready to fight something big like that. People think that system have strength for that, but it does not, even in most modern countries.
