    Yeah you should if you have a bunch of different apple trees you should get a crab apple tree for some reason it seems to increase yields. unless it is a closed pollination tree

    a sharp cold night can kill blossoms and not enough water will do exactly what you are describing. tree ful size requires water which is dependent on weather, soil and to minimize watering you should cover the area under the umbrella of the\ tree with mulch geo tex or grass to retain water.
