Well Trump won. I believe that Trump will help all of us with the 2nd Amendment, and Trump will now have the first two years with a Republican congress. I hope he can turn the country around. Hope Trump picks the best & smartest people to work on all these problems we have.
November 9, 2016 at 4:41 pm #50351Also of great consequence is he gets to nominate the next Supreme Court Justice. It is now more important than ever that he start to act Presidential and be the President rather than a candidate running for President. His transition from the primaries to the general election was rough in this regard in that he didn’t shift gears easily. It is also important for him to recognize that he did not win the majority vote but rather the electoral vote instead. That matters if he has any hope of healing the nation.
November 9, 2016 at 5:01 pm #50352Yes MB, the next Supreme Court Justices will be there for 30 to 40 years which is needed and will protect all of us.
November 9, 2016 at 6:11 pm #50353The job of the Supreme Court in reviewing (1) decisions made by lower courts, and (2) the statutes under which they were rendered, is to rigorously insist that those decisions and statutes square with the Constitution, as written, and as those constitutional provisions were understood to mean by those who put them in the Constitution. It is not to decide that things would be better, if only the Constitution said something else instead, or if the old words can be twisted into new, more “modern” meanings. Their job is analogous to that of a helmsman, to keep the ship on course, not to hijack the Captain’s job, and devise a new course, while holding the helm — to tell everyone that the Constitution still means what it says, not to pontificate on what it ought to have meant, instead
If the passenger/Citizens, who are, after all, “paying for the voyage”, prefer a new course (i.e., in the guiding Law) the Constitution already provides ways they can do that, as they have already done before. Let us hope that Mr. Trump chooses his justice nominees wisely.

I love it , all the liberals are eating sh*t , hope they move to Cana-duh .November 9, 2016 at 11:43 pm #50356Tolik, If Trump can change two to three of the Supreme Court Justices then the 2nd Amendment is fine for 10 to 30 years.
November 10, 2016 at 1:57 am #50357Personally, I’m still stunned. I had mentally written it off, though I did not know how I was going to deal with the reality of a possible Clinton presidency once it was a reality. And with both houses of Congress remaining Republican, I’m even more stunned. PERHAPS, just perhaps, some changes can be made. I’d like to say I’m optimistic about Trump, but I’m not. I don’t really trust him to follow through with many of the major things he said he’d do, and don’t really believe it’s financially feasible to pull off others. But as has been pointed out, at least we have a better feel for what goes on the Supreme Court for the next four years. We shall see what we shall see otherwise. If his speech at 3am today was any indication, I’d be optimistic. It was just a speech. But at least I’m not having to deal with a Clinton presidency + a Democrat Congress.
November 10, 2016 at 2:10 am #50358Protesters are out in New York and Chicago! The Liberals just do not like it when they do not have there way.

November 10, 2016 at 2:22 am #50359November 10, 2016 at 3:32 am #50360True believers out in Chicongo and Ork City. This is just the beginning of the madness. President Trump needs to reassess his priorities, These people are crazies with nothing to lose. They are also unrepentant. Anti America is a way of life for them.
November 10, 2016 at 12:56 pm #50364My son called last night to do a rehash on the election. He lives in Massachusetts still and works for a major defense contractor. He said there were people in his office crying yesterday over Trump winning. These snowflakes need to get a grip. Conservatives weren’t crying or protesting after Obama won.
In the good news column, Vermont will have a Republican Governor, Phil Scott, which says a lot in heavily Democratic VT. He won handily over the woman (Minter) trying to ride Hillary’s coattails (and Hillary won by a wide margin here). The 2nd Amendment is safe for at least another 2 years here now as he is a big supporter.
November 10, 2016 at 3:32 pm #50365There is a principle in psychology called “projection.” I once had a client that I asked what he was so angry about (he’d been loudly and angrily berating his wife and son). His face became red and he literally yelled almost at the top of his lungs, “I’M NOT THE ONE THAT’S ANGRY! SHE’S the one that’s angry!!!.” Projection is a type of defense mechanism in which one attributes one’s own traits or conditions to others, thereby shifting blame (or running a guilt trip on somebody else). Seems like the defense contractor employees (along with “students” all across our land in the institutions of “higher” learning) are engaging in a massive show of projection. The real deplorables are such a piece of work – but we’re stuck with them. They vote.
November 10, 2016 at 4:43 pm #50367MB (and others), you’re gonna love this! Miley Cyrus reacts to a Donald Trump presidency:
