I am interested to read what others on the forum think about this phenomenon and the interpretations.

    By Walid Shoebat

“When it comes to tomorrow, Christians need to think while watching the Star of Bethlehem which will appear after an absence of roughly 2000 years. Tomorrow (June 30th, 2015) the Star of Bethlehem will be making a return. Will this mean that the signs of the end is beginning to unfold? And what did this sign mean? Is it a time of joy or”suffering or both?”

Since 1800, approximately 189 American Christian pastors have predicted the end of the world and selected phenomenon and/or events as a forewarning.

Predicted events and outcomes didn’t happen.

    We’re still here!

No worries! It’s OK! Be Happy today…another day breathing on the planet!

Do you ever wonder if the foretelling of Jesus’ return set us up for global social failure …. sort of the first global socialist “entitlement” promise ……the “I’ll be back to save you” promise?

Should we be active in slaying the wolves & dragons (political, economic, social, etc.) of our time to make the world a safer & better place? Or should we be passive because we know no matter how bad we screw up societies and this planet, Jesus will bail our assess out of the mess?

Was this misinterpreted for the believers? Did Jesus really say, “Your Momma isn’t going to clean this place up, so you have to clean up, and keep it clean and running smooth? I’ll be back later to check on your progress. Don’t screw this up and if you do, fix it before I get back!”

Did you think when you washed up this morning and looked in the mirror, you were looking at the only person responsible for yourself and the person expected to be a positive contributor to our society?

Enjoy another day on the planet with hopefully many more to come!

As even the article points out, no man knoweth the day nor the hour. So do I find this conjunction of two bright objects in the sky to be of interest? Sure – but merely speculative, just the same. As discussed in a Sunday school class this past Sunday, someone made the point that if we’re living our lives trying to time the peak of our “best efforts” to the time of the 2nd coming, we’ve missed the whole point. People have been predicting the 2nd coming for nearly 2000 years, believing that it would still be in their lifetimes that Christ would return to “save” them.

Sure – as the original meaning of the 2nd half of my SHTF Forum name suggests – as a Christian, I fully expect that event to occur. Do I think we’re likely to be relatively close to it happening? Yes, but I don’t know whether that’s during my lifetime, my kids’ lifetimes, my grand kids’ lifetimes, or our new great grand kid’s lifetime. I just suspect it’s truly closer than people have thought it was through the ages.

      But it doesn’t matter.

I could be hit by an 18 wheeler this afternoon, or a meteor could hit the house as I sit here typing. If I”m not “ready” now, the timing of the 2nd coming has no relevance to me whatsoever.

The point is how I live my life, how I treat others, how much I do to appropriately support others, not just whether I read my scriptures daily, pray, etc. So, if tonight’s bright light in the sky is truly one of the signs, great! I’m quite ready for this world, as we know it, to become a peaceful place for 1000 years. In the meantime, it’s my responsibility to be treating my fellow human beings appropriately, as I’ve been taught.

And it’s therefore my responsibility to become as prepared and as knowledgeable as possible, as soon as possible, not on some carefully planned schedule designed to be complete one day before the 2nd coming. It’s a matter of what we do today, how we help others today, and what we do to take personal responsibility today.

Oh – and speaking of personal responsibility, I recently saw the dumbest statement by an Episcopal Church leader in Atlanta. In announcing that the Episcopal Church will not allow concealed carry in their churches despite the new law in effect in Georgia tomorrow (1 July), he said that Christ didn’t teach people to protect themselves, just to minister to others. Uh, back when I was a member of the Episcopal Church, we used the same King James I still use. In that version, twice Christ gave his disciples instructions before he sent them out to minister among the people. The first time he sent them out without purse or scrip. But the second time came with a different set of instructions: “And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:35-36)

So my bottom line is that around 9:30 tonight, I do plan to be looking at the western sky – and honestly, I will be wondering if it’s more than mere astronomical coincidence. But it won’t change what I should be doing or the rate at which I should be doing it in my own life. The spiritual things will all work for my good if I’m doing my part all along.

I believe that the article in question was posted over 24 hours ago, and that no new star has appeared.

Fanatics have claimed for millennia that the world is coming to an end.

The world does indeed end for some people every day. It’s called dieing.

If some fanatic decides that the world is ending for him tomorrow, I don’t have a problem with it, so long as he doesn’t intend to take anybody else with him “for our own good.”

The world is not going to end for me today. I don’t intend to die today, and will do everything within my ability to keep such an event from happening.

Actually, no new star was predicted to appear. And the event is tonight (currently visible in the eastern United States as I’m typing this), not last night. Jupiter and Venus (the two brightest objects in the night sky except for the moon) have finally completed their convergence in the sky. Some news stories reported that tonight they would appear almost as a double star. It’s rather cool to see actually, but not nearly as close as the “double star” effect some have claimed it would look like. And Venus is FAR brighter than Jupiter, with distance clearly visible between them. (As my neighbor commented, “kind of underwhelming after the stories I saw about it.”) That’s all that was being talked about – no miraculous appearance of anything that wasn’t there last night, or the night before – they were just farther apart then (as they will become again after tonight). The rest is speculation in terms of what it means.

It’s entirely to cloudy here to see it. Personally I was hoping to see something that hasn’t occured for 2000 years. As far as fulfillment of any prophecy, the last time it happened it a kid was born in a small town animal stall. It was years later that anything special happened. 20 years from now maybe we’ll know if someone special was born tonight as well.

In 1948 Israel became a Nation, this began the clock . so to speak of the the end days, below Jesus speaks of this generation.. In the Bible there are (3) Gen. spoken of , a 40 year , 70 year and a 120 year. Jesus tells us to learn the parable of the fig tree. I ‘m not going to go into a deep study, however, if you check this out you will learn from the Bible that we are in the last days, as stated, it began in 1948 upon Israel becoming a Nation.

Now learn the parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
