I’ve noticed on multiple occasions in just the past month or two that when I’ve gone in to edit a post I’ve already put up (and which is showing on the Forum), the entire post disappears, along with any reference to it in the “Recent Replies” listing on the right side of the page. Now I just replied to a post that Malgus posted about 2100 ham radio licenses being cancelled in South Africa, only to get an error message that the post couldn’t be found. His post is no longer listed in the “Recent Topics” list, but at least as of the time I’m writing this, my reply is listed in the “Recent Replies” – but if you click that link, it returns the error – not found – message.
Something seems to be going wrong with the software running this forum.
Additionally, it would be very much appreciated if the Forum could be hosted on a secure server (https://), not a non-secure server (http://). There are no guarantees on the internet anymore, but at least SOME increase in privacy and safety would be appreciated. Personally, I’ve already had my entire family’s data stolen in the FedGov data breach a couple of years ago (Chinese, Russians, who cares? It’s out there), followed by the massive Blue Cross/Anthem data breach as well. To have this site, a preparedness site, among the least secure on the internet seems a bit odd.
Thanks.April 26, 2017 at 10:53 am #51801
Yeah, that was me posting up the Ham radio article… I can’t even access it myself.
I can bring up your reply, but not the original one I put up.
Just a glitch that will be hammered out soon, hopefully.

I can’t even see my own reply, or one that shows up now that you apparently posted to that non-existing thread (at least as far as my access shows). I get a 404 error – the page doesn’t exist for the original or any replies.May 10, 2017 at 1:45 am #51838
If anyone saw the previous post here that announced my departure from this Forum, disregard. The information was correct that my new VPN (virtual private network) DOES in fact apparently block access to NON-secure web sites (such as the SHTF School Forum), but as it turns out, only through certain sites utilized by the VPN. Unfortunately, the fastest IP address I could find simply will not connect here. But after I posted my departure notice (which contained a plea to Selco and Toby to get a secure web site rather than this unsecure one), I decided to experiment a bit. I tried other connection options through the VPN, and although the one I’m using at the moment does not appear to be as fast as what I’d settled on, it will allow me to continue accessing this site, without being tracked by Google, NoSuchAgency, or even my ISP.
So if party plans had been initiated to celebrate, you might as well call them off. Georgia Saint ain’t goin’ nowhere no time soon. I appreciate you folks much too much, and value this site. I’m just glad I found a work-around, but still hope Selco will secure the site.
