It is well past time to hit the reset button. Civilization needs a big, hard dose of reality. It will break a lot of hearts, but it is better than total extinction. I just don’t see survival as a possibility if we as a whole continue down the path we are on. Something big needs to come slap us collectively in the face and wake us up. At least then some of us would make it through. The longer we wait, the harder the slap is going to be.
Sometimes the only way to learn is the hard way. It is unfortunate, but it is the way of things.September 9, 2017 at 12:18 am #52254
All in good time, benjammin. Reality slaps when it is ready … and we are not. But we need not all “as a whole continue down the [same] path.” That is why most of us in this forum are here. Maybe the world is insane. Y’got someplace else to go?

Working in a public sector “people helping” agency there’s not a day that goes by that I think and wish the same thing. Then I usually go home, have a couple of drinks and all is right in the world again. (lol)
On a serious note, I think about the things I enjoy in life such as my children, wife, friends, good food, drink, and or my favorite TV shows (there aren’t many) and try to imagine if that was all gone or severely compromised. It’s very sobering to try to imagine how I’m going to have to feed my family, purify water, crap somewhere outside with rationed toilet paper all while worrying if I’m being watched by people who may want to murder me, rape my wife, God knows what to my children, and take what we’ve achieved.
No, sir….I don’t want it, but I’ll prep for it, all the while praying that it will never happen.

I looked it up and found 21 mosques in south florida. Florida is nuts for permitting them to build like termites. And then today i heard the governor stand up there and say what a big marvelous melting pot it ….. Was. As he gets in his AF helo and heads for DC.
Yes Ben, flordida Is getting its ass kicked by none other than Him. The Arab money should have stayed in Gutter and the desert rather than go into our politicians pockets. It was wasted on hitlery and obamination.
Maybe the world is insane, but some days are really incredible/interesting.September 9, 2017 at 3:31 am #52270
Only 21 mosques in all of south Florida?!? I’m shocked that it’s that FEW! Surely there are many more than that, though probably not heavily advertised or listed anywhere. Heck – we find ‘em quietly tucked away even all around this area. I know of at least five just in the county containing the largest city in this part of our state, not all even listed in directories, Google Maps, etc. And some of those are specifically designated on their signs as Calypso Louie’s mosques.
What was that about insanity?

I just had a conversation with a friend and the reset thing came up.
I asked, what makes you think that the reset would turn out the way you want?
Who’s to say that the conservative viewpoint would be the successful one?September 12, 2017 at 4:53 pm #52315
Whirli you make an excellent point. It is the heart of a patriot that believes right will win but reality is often cruel. That belief is based strongly on the idea that the military will be on the conservative side. With today’s climate, who knows. It is not a simple divison of muskets and cannons anymore. There is a huge tech gap between civilian and military. If the military is not with us and we manage to survive the initial onslaught it would be a long long fight with the only miniscule chance of winning be based on guerilla warefare. We will not be able to match force with tanks and planes.September 12, 2017 at 6:13 pm #52316
I can assure you first hand that the volume of non-conservatives in the military now (both officer and enlisted ranks) is nothing like it used to be. My confidence level in the military holding the line if a crisis develops in the nation is not high. That, combined with large scale apathy, and a massively under- and mis-educated general public leaves me with an insignificant amount of hope that things can be turned around. There are too many people programmed to believe the socialist line, and almost nobody truly knows history anymore. Arguing even in just a true debate sense – i.e. fairly and logically – is an entire waste of time. While few of them have ever read Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals,” they’ve all learned it almost since they learned language – it’s part of their normal thinking processes.
So without a strong (i.e. military) force to keep things under control in the face of mounting chaos, and a people reading and willing to receive the truth, we can be all as dedicated and even willing to lay down our lives as we want – the depth behind us simply is not sufficient. Benjammin’s title of this thread is spot on. Just my 2¢….

I suppose it is that we are being overtaken with such blatant idiocy blasted at us non-stop now. We as a society are doing our level best to convince ourselves that what we are saying is real, when it is in fact contrary to all that is real. It’s getting to where it’s like watching two people play a heated tennis match with no tennis balls, just swishing their racquets furiously at each other. The volley just keeps going non-stop, neither side able to claim victory or acknowledge defeat for fear of the illusion being foiled. We are stuck watching this go on and on, tallying the strokes, waiting for an outcome that can never materialize. How can this end?September 12, 2017 at 9:22 pm #52321
Disaster is about the only way it will end, what ever that disaster may be. I watched it happen with Harvey. Sadly though it seems on a national level it was a minor disturbance that warranted a short break from all the BS but is starting to slip right back to the old routine. It’s like waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom only to go right back to bed and drift soundly back to sleep. Only locals directly affected seem to be staying the course and pulling together.September 12, 2017 at 9:44 pm #52323
Perhaps that’s what it’s all about, and we’re still in for a number of additional major challenges – let the people experience severe adversity, remind them they’re dependent on each other if we’re all to really make it in a sane world, and that other human beings matter. Maybe then we’ll learn. But that starts getting into another realm, and there’s a separate topic on the Forum for that….

Is there a possibility of positive change?
I believe so, but not in my lifetime.
We educate our children, and grandchildren and teach them to do the same.
Eventually we might effect change for the positive, but we will never know.
There comes a point, we can only teach.
Our days of action are long past. But we can live on through our students, family or not.
I would prefer that war comes in my time, so my children are able to escape it. But honestly, it is too late for that.
The more people we teach, that we show, the better. An intellectual resistance being formed today for tomorrow’s fight.
