I don’t know how this could even remotely be considered “justified.” He was tased because he was laying on the ground with his arms and legs spread. Then he put his hands behind his back and was then promptly kicked and beat. Not once did he fight back after he came off the horse.

Things like this are what give the general population cause to distrust law enforcement. Whether the cops were “dehydrated” or not there was no need at all for the tune up this guy got after he gave up.

Ya the cops need an exorcism or something. Kicking and beating a guy laying down surrendering is beastly. Was thinking, even if this was my own horse and I caught the guy stealing it. I wouldn’t thrash him if he was cowering on the ground surrendering. The fact that cops are supposed to be trained professionals makes things like this very disturbing.

by doing such things they endanger themselves, then say why people fight back…. like a bully finally getting beat asking why he deserved it, he was just doing his job.

there was and instance where police took a man who was drunk and drove him out of town in winter with just shirt and jeans on had him walk back on country road he almost froze to death it was -20c. The investigations said they did nothing wrong… community decided to do otherwise and did not do violence but simply refused to sell trade or help the people involved. being a remote small town they had to leave since no gas no heat no food for 4 hours one way. .

his crime wanting to walk home from bar and for being lippy to cops after being stopped….he had a history with police small stuff, no need to do such a thing. he lived 4 block from bar. so public drunkenness was his charge. Who should die for that?

i know it wont work as well in a bigger city but if we used same shame tactics as they use with pedophiles maybe the social pressure would change this type of behavior because now they do have something to lose.

this is someone elses idea of how to tackle the problem http://news.yahoo.com/powerful-idea-could-prevent-future-police-killings-180915258.html

Not gonna say it was justified, but I can understand the feelings behind it. Having been involved in more than one ‘foot bail’, it’s hard to describe what you’re feeling after running with all that crap on.

You will note that there are two investigations in the works on this.

Whirly, what their feeling are at the moment should be over ridden by training and logic. That’s part of being a professional and having to work with other people.

brulen only thing that would happen is taxes go up because the officers are no longer money generating tax/fine for system. Look at strike in NYC only thing that went down was revenue crime was same.

Some counties gain 60% of their general fund through fines and “impromptu taxes.” So, I wouldn’t doubt that at all.
