    Substitution for Self-Rising Flour
A lot of European or British recipes call for Self-Rising Flour, in North America, especially Canada we rarely buy this type of flour because of the cost. Self-Rising Flour is really all-purpose flour with added leavening (baking powder) and salt. However, there is a simple remedy to this, you can formulate your own; for every cup of all-purpose flour you add the following ingredients below:

    Ingredients:

    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1½ tsp baking powder
    ¼ tsp salt
    Method

Combine all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Voila, you have your Self-Rising Flour.

Prepare for the unknown by studying how others in the past have coped with the unforeseeable and the unpredictable.

The more contributions like this, the better we will all be able to cope with the fact that so much knowledge has not been passed down through the generations. Thanks so much!
