    Another thing to take into consideration , and this could be critical . What are the over all conditions of the state and area in which you live ? The Southwest is screwed , although down there , the Nazi’s are going to also
    have to deal with things coming from Mexico as well as the local population , it will take a lot of man power . Ask what does the land provide as far as resources vs population density , road system , sustained cover , water , weather may be a considerable factor for anything you attempt , etc.
    More remote / less populated states may be more difficult to get started initially , because of the lack of product and service availability , but may be better for a long haul . Get to know your area well . I plan to do just that in short order . Maine for example : 35000 sq miles , 90% of it forrest , over 230 miles of coastline , only borders one other state , low population , being near Canada may be a benefit . Alaska would be another tough nut to crack just living there , but a person could fade away fairly well if needed , but they better know what they are doing , Maine is not too far off from that , just not as severe . THis is not PC , but it needs to be considered . What is the ethnic/racial makeup of your area ? Some groups of people are more prone to criminal activity than others , even in good times . That will tell you what dangers you may be facing daily , the authorities may be a much lesser concern .

    I have seen too many videos where they said they never got them back, and have never seen anything about compensation. You’d think the gun grabbers would try to pacify at least some of those that don’t already know what’s going on by stressing how mistakes were made, but extraordinary efforts were then made to correct those mistakes through return of weapons, compensation, inability to find those from whom weapons were taken due to relocation, yada, yada, yada. I’ve heard absolutely zero along those lines, though I admit I haven’t done extremely thorough searches on the subject. Still, I would be shocked, based on what we do seem to know, to find out everything was made right or at least widespread attempts were made to do so. Note the statement in one of the videos (or maybe it was one of several I reviewed last night again, two of which are posted below – can’t remember) in which the narrator stated he’d spoken with someone in LE that reluctantly admitted that the “nice ones” went into the hands of the confiscators, and the not so nice ones went into the lake or canals (almost his direct quote). I think that’s evidence enough.

    My wife and I found ourselves, upon watching a follow up video of the old woman that was battered by the Los Angeles cops (first one below), wishing some group had stepped forward and done a pro bono case for her to sue the snot out of everyone involved in her case for violation of civil liberties, terrorism, assault and battery, theft, and anything else they could come up with. But no – the “authorities in NOLA got away with horrible criminal activity, and no one pursued it. People should have gone to jail for a long, long time, and to my knowledge, no one ever did. I simply cannot fathom how LE people could do what was done in NOLA, such as what was done to Patricia Konie (the old woman).

    And the more that gets circulated (and similar videos), the more people will indeed learn the ” lesson to hide them in the future and not be forthcoming to authorities in such a situation.” You got THAT right! It’s a lesson the nation needs to learn, not just the folks in NOLA.

    I’m posting two more videos below that follow on from the NRA video. The first is the follow up on Patricia Konie, and the second is the experience of a bar owner in NOLA. It’s just sickening.

    In reference to the title of Whirlibird’s thread title: “Strong cities my @$$!” What a great ironic title for the program to further strengthen governments over people.

    Oh – and for Whirlibird and at least one other person here in the Forum, I knew that one graphic would bring a smile to your faces when you saw the ST origin, particularly.

    And finally, if it really gets bad, bad, bad, I fully agree with Whirlibird. The group training won’t be in place, the coordination won’t be possible in most cases (just spotty small groups here and there). I’ve long believed Iraq and Afghanistan will be the models for what we’d be seeing, not a large armed uprising by finally P.O.’d NRA members. An old (literally), revered individual on another forum spoke regularly about the “Committee of One.” Amen.

    My small, rural North Texas town stood up two shelters. When the first buses pulled in they were greeted by folks to help them get through the paperwork bs. First though all passengers had to walk through a walled off tent. At the front of the tent was a note saying to drop all your drugs, guns and weapons into the barrels inside. No questions asked. There was a lot of stuff collected.
    All in all those folks from Katrina were very decent. Not all but most.

    Humans are weird animals , they will stay in an area with constant natural disasters , or live in a place where there is no food ……………………………..instead of moving .

    Tolik, I think it is human nature to suffer from normalcy bias to the point that people are just blind to their real situation. It is much easier to see the faults from afar. I will admit that I am amazed at how even survivalists relocate to places with water scarcity or that are subject to wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes etc. On the water issue, I shake my head when I read comments about areas having plenty of water despite crops needing irrigation or that the water comes from far away reservoirs or there are convoluted laws defining who has rights to what water. If things don’t stay green throughout the summer due to rainfall or if the water is further away than you’d be comfortable carrying it, maybe the water situation isn’t so good after all. People as well don’t think about climate. Without modern infrastructure, post-SHTF the deep south lowlands and coastal plains will see a return of the tropical diseases that were part of life long ago. Yesterday a prepper friend of mine from the Adirondacks in NY came by. His stepson lives in Brooklyn and would not even consider relocating to my friend’s place on account he doesn’t like being out in the countryside. My friend expects that when things start to fall apart, the stepson will stay in Brooklyn waiting for a return to normalcy, until it is too late to safely get out of the city let alone make his way all the way up to the Adirondacks.

    After Katrina, lots of ‘em relocated to this area, and unfortunately never left. Totally coincidental of course {choke!}, the crime rate suddenly shot up. Our quiet little neighborhood suddenly had a major increase in crime (actual home invasions, whereas all that almost ever happened in the past was a stolen stereo out of a car parked on the street instead of a garage or car port). But I’m certain that had nothing to do with our new residents ….

    GS, and now it seems that Federal policy includes moving the Section 8 crowd out into middle class neighborhoods. Any community that doesn’t resist the allure of “free” money for low income housing will soon enough get what they deserve.

    Not to put too fine a point on it, if you think the government’s doing what it’s actually doing, you’re a domestic terrorist, worse than ISIS ever thought of being. Having told the truth (in the past) about the gummint is now a crime, and you should have realized they’d get around to declaring it so, and refrained from doing it, before they did — you terrorist, you!

    “preventing violent extremism” Somehow I think this will end up applied to everyone that believes the US Constitution is the law of the land. The UN doesn’t recognize our constitution.

    Note, that post by 74 was 2½ weeks ago. Darn! We’re ALL a bunch of terrorists around here!

    Oh, how I’d love to see Jeff Foxworthy (or someone that can do a good imitation of him) presenting a “You might be a terrorist” routine:

    • Think that monitoring of your every phone conversation, email, Skype session, (not so)private message, web site visited, etc., complete with never-ending storage in the big “warehouse” in Utah is unconstitutional…
    • Believe the government cannot compel you to violate a closely held religious conviction such as performing or assisting in an abortion…
    • Have bumper stickers on your vehicle with a political theme, or perhaps a flag in front of your house with a political message…
    • Are a combat veteran…
    • Believe that massive federal ownership of lands (particularly in western states) goes far beyond what the Founders intended…
    • Believe the original means outlined in the Constitution for raising taxes is just fine…
    • Believe the Federal Reserve is unconstitutional…
    • Believe the regulation of all kinds of things through the “commerce clause” is unconstitutional…

    Of course! That’s why it’s now part of the American History curriculum at all levels of education. The colonists were terrorists, and the Founding Fathers were terrorist LEADERS!

    Thou shalt not mention the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, or name(s) of any of those original American right wing extremist terrorists, under penalty of law.
