    Whirly,
The only reason that arms and equipment are signed for by LE & military personnel is so they don’t sell them for profit. Our government has no trust in the members of the military and is the reason there are no armed personnel on base.

The reason we have drivers licenses is so we can be taxed, not for safety reasons. You probably think cops give out traffic tickets to make the roads safer. Speed tax. Car registration is a tax, boat registration; tax, tax, tax. Do you really think a license requirement make people drive more safely? Half of the drivers around here learned in mexico, can’t read english and need an interpreter at the DOT. But they can pay the tax. I can buy a machine gun if I pay the tax.

BTW The Fort Hood shooter killed un-armed personnel, UNARMED.

    here is
    18 U.S. Code § 926A – Interstate transportation of firearms.
it covers transporting firearms across state lines,
“Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. ”
it does not cover the transportation of magazines, i know in some place even having a “high capacity” magazine is a no-no.
This web site has good info also:
