GS, the answer was given in a comedy movie, satirizing that event, the answer is no.

Roger that! Almost spooky to me is the fact that I recently learned that ol’ Rodney departed this earth literally just blocks (a short walk) from where we once lived many years ago. Even more reason to be glad we escaped California when we did.

Leopard – at the very end of the film you can barely make out the place where I lived from 1984 to 1987. Well, my stuff was there but I was in and out. Nice gated complex of 9 houses. Had a pool! From poolside you walked down some steps to the beach. Sunset Beach (Pipeline) was about 50 meters to the left. To the right was what is called “The Backyards.” Nothing but large rocks and coral. When I had parties I would tell my military friends not to eat the brownies. My local friends made them with pot inside.

Talking to my Wednesday night group last night. Turns out one of the members son just moved to Cape Town. I didn’t know he was even thinking of going there. I gave his Mother a sanitized version of what was happening in SA. Gave her the links to IOL online publications. She will catch on quick.

Marches and demonstrations have been planned in Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg on Wednesday, which is a public holiday.(16 Dec)

The organisers of the “ZumaMustFall” movement said Zuma’s latest decision to abruptly remove former minister Nhlanhla Nene and replace him ANC backbencher David van Rooyen, only to remove Van Rooyen and re-appoint Cooperative Governance Minister Pravin Gordhan a few days later, was the one of the many reasons Zuma should resign.

The movement gained momentum on social media, similar to the students’ “FeesMustFall” campaign that took off across the country in October.

The removal of Nene sent shockwaves across the country and saw the rand plunging to new lows as market jitters in the financial sector sank in.

    Keep kids safe
Another tip was the importance of a family safety plan being in place when visitors are staying over.
“This is so a child can use a code or make a signal to show that he or she is in distress and needs help.
“Always listen to your child if they display or demonstrate discomfort around any adult or individual.”
Omar recommended that teenagers left alone at home should not indicate to anyone that they are alone in any way. “Not by telephone, social media or even when they answer the door bell”
She said it was vital to tell your children that if by chance they do get lost, the safest person to seek help from is another mother with children.
“A parent must then explain to the children step by step what they should do – If you can’t find us, walk up to another mother with children and say: I am lost, can you please help me?”
Omar said parents should make sure children know all the relevant cellphone numbers. “For young children and children with special needs, parents should make and place a laminated ID card with their information on it as well as two cellphone numbers where you can be reached.
“The best place to stick it is in the bottom of their shoe. Most importantly tell your children that if they get separated from you, they should never leave the place they’re at.”

    Retailers are prime targets
Johannesburg – As South Africans wind down for the end of the year, criminals are ratcheting up their activity and consumer-facing industries can expect to see a spike in robberies of between 20 percent and 30 percent these holidays.
Currently, he says, there are about 52 armed robberies a day and about 106 burglaries a day on average, based on South African Police Service figures.

Many of these are carried out by professional groups that are syndicated, work in teams of around 15 and use inside information to work out when the best time to strike is, says Phillips.

He notes the cost to the business is “huge” because it will take an outlet about 6 months to get turnover to the same place as it was before the intrusion because consumers are too scared to return.

6 months, with that kind of loss it makes sense to shut the doors until after the holiday seasons.

Many businesses closed their doors this week and today. Some only opens in the second week of the new year. That affects business like mine that runs every day off the year. Most bussiness in shopping centres will stay open and get robbed. “Its open season”

What you’re describing is not robbery or theft. It is terrorism. Terrorism should be terminated on the spot – no need for lengthy, costly trials, feeding and medical care in prisons, endless cost of litigation through appeals, and the message it sends to the ones behind them, that crime DOES pay, and has great odds of little or no jail time. End that now! As has been said before and elsewhere, some people just need killin’.
