Here is the crazy German again , he was invited to a trade show by the president of Cold Steel knives . What this thread is concerned with is at the end of the video , the Swedes have come up with an air powered bow !
Like a pump action air rifle that shoots hunting arrows , the pump is side mounted , so you can use it prone …………………the possibilities here are considerable ! , stealth defense , hunting , resistance . This vid was made 3 years ago , so that other prototype is most likely on the market by now .May 16, 2015 at 10:37 pm #41101It’s cool but I would bend the tube the first day out in the woods. Something that sticks out like that is a magnet for every vine, branch and snag. It would be useless to me in an hour.
May 16, 2015 at 10:49 pm #41102They had a back loader as well , thats the one I would get .
May 18, 2015 at 2:31 am #41117650 fps. That’s smokin’ for an arrow. You would be hard pressed to find arrows that will hold up to that speed. I don’t think you would want it going that fast either. Even if you shot it into a soft target the arrow would be useless after one shot…..but it would be cool at least once or twice lol.

May 19, 2015 at 3:54 am #41159If you notice the backs of the arrows in the video they have had the knocks removed and the solid ends cut off. This gives the arrow a chamber to harness the energy provided by the blast of air. If you used a solid arrow a piston of some sort would have to be used to transfer the energy to the arrow. Now if they could just come up with a repeater version of the breech loading model that would be totally awesome.
