Welcome! Please introduce yourself? (Name, age, gender, location for example)

    David, 59, Male, DFW

Since when are you into survival and preparedness and what made you get into it?

I’ve written several novels and they usually involve a SHTF scenario which I have always expected to occur in my lifetime. I’ve been a little more active this last decade.

Why is survival and preparedness important or interesting for you? What scenario are you preparing for?

Because I have a duty to take care of my family. What I think will most likely happen will be man made, probably starting with an economic crisis and aggravated by political parties who seem to be trying to increase the economic/racial/cultural divide to where we are One Nation, Divided

How would you describe your prepping / survival philosophy? What matters for you?

Limited funds make this more f a conceptual exercise where you simply try to survive the initial event, and afterwards have the skillset and mindset to join a likeminded group.

Do you have some favorite quotes or words of wisdom you like?

    Quote from Adrian Rogers:
“Friend, you cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. And what one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government can’t give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody. And when half of the people get the idea they don’t have to work because the other half’s going to take care of them, and when the other half get the idea it does no good to work because somebody’s going to get what I work for. That, dear friend, is about the end of any nation.”

You are dying and have 30 seconds left, what do you do or say?

Lord, please forgive me for my sins and find me worth in the end, please take care of my family.

    Hi David, welcome over here!

Can you tell us more about the novels you wrote? I think it is always interesting to see fleshed out ideas of how a potential collapse could look like.

I agree with your philosophy. If we are going to face a sudden collapse its just about making it through the first couple of months and then most things will be dependent on our surroundings (unless you have a hidden underground shelter with many years of food of course).

David – We’re pretty close to that Adrian Rogers statement aren’t we? Applies outside the US too – many countries going through the “redistribution of wealth” issues causing much unrest. In between jobs myself so I understand the limited funds – agree though, much more important to have the right mindset and skills than “gear” to survive. Willpower will get you a LONG way.

Same with Jay & Selco – Please expound on the book titles or where we can purchase. I’ve read many authors of the genre, but always room for more to get those one or two “I never thought of that” nugget of information while being entertained a bit.

Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property... mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.

My last novel I actually titled TSHTF. It is about a man that is working for a Sporting Goods store where the owner is a prepper. The owner builds a compound that can house a community of like-minded people. A couple of natural disasters occur and there is a cast of characters, some good, some bad traveling a chaotic environment, all converging on the compound.

I wrote another story about terrorism in the guise of an outsourcing company and how access to corporate programming code could cause havoc in the country without ever firing a shot.

Another story was about a group of people living on a space station in the not-too-distant future and nuclear war occurs on Earth. After a period of time the orbit is decaying and they decide to take a shuttle and return to Earth, unsure of what will be there because of the communication blackout cause by all the nukes.

Another one was a detective story.

I fully intend to edit these stories and get them a little better for publication, or at least reading by an outside source. I wrote this as part of WRINANOMO or Write A Novel In November which takes place, you guessed it, every November. On at least two of them besides the general editing, I am contemplating changing the end up as I’ve had time to think about things for a while.

I think we are pretty close to the end game. No telling how long the machinations of the current regime can keep it artificially propped up. It reaffirms my believe that the TSHTF scenario will happen in my lifetime.

    Welcome to the fold!

I, too, am actually writing a novel, believe it or not! It’s only 65 typed pages so far, but it’s not looking too bad. I have yet to select a title and am unwilling to release much detail as I don’t want someone to beat me to the punch on this one haha. I eventually intend to have it published.
