I just read one of my new author neighbor’s books, a story about a Jewish Czech girl who survived Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. She was 14 when the war ended and was the only survivor in her extended family. Over the years I have read a lot of WWII history. Every personal account by survivors that I have read has followed the same sequence. The downward slide was incremental as new restrictions were placed on the Jews one at a time, and each time the people accepting it as a temporary measure to be tolerated until everything got back to normal. By time those incremental measures became intolerable it was too late to do anything about it. In the book I just read some of their friends fled to Switzerland or elsewhere but the father refused to flee because he was a patriotic Czech and would not give up on his own country. He could not conceive of where it was all headed.

Reading these stories leaves me wondering if I would see things clearly myself. Say if we really were living in the prelude to a Matt Bracken novel?

    Mtbiker,
I think you would notice and are probably trying to measure what is happening that is intented to be a causation for change, know I am. One factor that is used to counter observation & measurement is the way laws are passed with delayed enforcement dates or postponed enforcement. Another feature of our laws is the time span required for the effect of laws to make their impact.

One thing clear to me, is that firearms ownership is a major stumbling block to the final “Transformation”.

That sucks , but a small measure of comfort is the fact that the Russians did a good job at revenge . Out of 91,000 prisoners taken at Stalingrad , only about 3000 ever saw home again , those numbers were typical . The Russians for a time , even had a special post office set up for looting , once they entered Germany . It was 1kg for an enlisted soldat , and 5kg for an officer of loot per month . One can argue all they want to about the Soviet treatment of German civilians , and on an individual basis , no they probably didnt deserve it , BUT as a nation and a people , they deserved much worse than what they got …………..the Russians were the only ones with balls enough to actually do it . The Russians were the first ones to find the camps , and when they reported what they found , we didnt believe them about the scale of it , we thought they were exaggerating ……….until the British and American troops started finding the camps as they moved forward . After that discovery , the west knew how the Soviets were behaving in Germany , and because of the camps …………..they really didnt care what the Russians did . 74 is right , in order to do anything , they must disarm the people . There is a Jewish version of the NRA , that is trying to make sure that doesnt happen again , by trying to educate other Jews on the importance of firearms ownership .

Tolik, another piece of the Russian-German matter is the fact that Russia lost on the order of 20 million people in WWII, and millions more suffered mightily at the hands of the Germans.

You guys are probably right that should there be an actual setting aside of the 2nd amendment or an action that more or less guts it, that line will have been crossed where stay or go decisions would need to be made. Not so much for that specific action but rather based on what may follow once the guns are out of the way. Not sure where the safe haven is though. I can cross into Canada anytime I want being I have dual citizenship but my wife and kids do not.

undeRGRond, yeah it sometimes does seem like we are living in a Matt Bracken novel. I imagine there are some in DC that wish they could accelerate the timeline.

    Mtbiker,
No law or action by the government will remove guns from the public. You don’t see them trying to round people up in Connecticut for not registering their AR’s. The authorities in Ct were put on notice, it aint happening.

74, I don’t think its happening either but it would be the crossing of a line if it did. NY’s new laws are mostly going unenforced too, yet the anti-gun folks continue to push for more restrictions in many jurisdictions, and the “police state” trend line continues.

We all have to stand tall when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. This is the ONLY thing that is keeping us free!

I only wish that we all lived closer to each other. But we are all very strong in what we believe in. The anti-gun groups will never stop till they are six feet under my friends. This is a fact. We will be dealing with them for a long time, till the day we will stop taking it anymore. UndeRGRond, God is with all of us.

Anyone read The Ominous Parallels by Leonnard Peikoff. Its all there. Listen to the Democrats whine about the blacks saving them in the next election. If ebola was ravaging the country they wouldn’t give a penny. They have to keep the furher in office at all cost. True national socialist fanatics.

I hope so 74, there has been so many things that have happen and the Dems have lied there way out of every single one, IRS, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the border with the illegals and many more and the people keep fulling for there lies. I just sometimes think that it will take something very big to change things.

Concerning the impact of an ebola pandemic, State and city public health depts were major customers of my former employer and my guess is that a full blown pandemic would hit ghetto areas hard. This is because it is a very difficult audience to reach with public health communications. They do not seek info from the internet or other media in the manner that most of us here do plus any written material provided has to be at a very low reading level, and even then you have to physically get it into their hands if you are to have any chance of it being read. There is also the issue of living in crowded conditions.

You know, the media blackout is not going to stop ebv from hitching rides on cruise ships, planes and buses. I have the feeling there may be a bad outbreak of killer flu coming soon. A 1918 type pandemic in fact. I noticed Dr. Osterholm in his Black Swan addressat Johns Hopkins noted a number of ebv victims never get a fever. I have a name already picked out for this “new never seen before bug”….. The Black Flu.
