In regards to communism….. is that not how an ideal family works? The problem is it does not translate well into larger masses. Christianity and most religions are left leaning to say the least.

We are free to choose different, we choose to be a group that is dedicated to each other…. is that impossible?

Communism hated religion because of the control it exerts on the masses it wants to be the only pillar in society. hard to make someone do something in fear when they live with the hope in next life they are rewarded for deeds done today when you live just for today. Yet every communist state has had religion no matter how persecuted.

Ask yourself why religion through everything? Is it in side of ourselves to need to believe there is more to this existence? to the point we will die for those beliefs? this happens regardless of the religion ask yourself why man craves this so?

Do these principals also apply to the people wanting governance? No matter how bad most will still follow the system….why? Is it something most require to not think for themselves? On the other side of the coin is there not an insatiable need to dominate others? we have tried a few different variations on ruling people over the time we have been here and yet we end at same place each time a change through violence when things go too far… only thing that is a constant is us humans….Why are we like this?

Agree, religion was not forbidden, but you could not expect to “grow” or be successful in your field if you showed that you are religious. In most of the cases it could be understand like your imperfection (fault).

Of course people still were religious and practice religion.

About my family. My Grandfather on my Fathers side owned in Cuba an Electrical manufacture, they would make copper wire, steel boxes and everything to wire a house or buildings, my father was part owner. My father had a large house, new cars, lived high middle class. Well when Castro got in power the military came to my fathers house and my Grandfathers house and told us that in the next two to three months they would bring other families to live in our houses too and that we could have one of the rooms in the house. Oh and that we didn’t own the houses anymore. The houses where owned now by the government. So that was 1961, my father left first to the U. S. with a visa, by 1962 he was able to bring my mother and I with visas.

We lost everything, communism didn’t even let my mother bring her wedding ring, she left it with a sister. My father was only aloud to bring $3. We never collected any food stamps, what the U. S. did for us was they were giving us two bags of food every two weeks till my father found a job.

On of my family member spend 28 years in jail because he would go out in the streets to protest the government,
he came in 1980. He showed me his ribs and they are all broken sticking out. He told me some of the stories of his 28 years in jail and what they would do to him. They would take his cloths in the winter and hose him down leaving him wet and cold. When they wanted to feed him rice and some beans but those where the good days, sometimes it was only bread and water. They would line him up with other political prisoners with the guards
and about twenty feet away they would bring in children from the school any tell the children look this is what happens to political prisoners and the guards would start to beat them bloody, break the bones and then throw them back in there cells with no doctors to help them. This is why his ribs stick out. This is just one of my family member, there are more like him and one that dead.

So please understand that when anyone talks good about communism my blood gets hot, I do not hold back, I will go at them with very thing I have. Communism took my childhood away from me, I never got to see my Grandparents, so every child in school had a grand mother or grandfather and I didn’t. Communism is a bad word, it’s a crime. Just like Selco they gave what they called the booklet. Full of lies.

Many here know communism is bad but only Selco and I really know what it is all about.

The thing about Communism and no communist will admit it …….they usually deny this fact , is that communism is poverty ……period . The reason is very simple and unavoidable . In order to have ComUNism , you have to control every aspect of a persons life , and in order to micromanage that in a nation . It takes a very great deal of manpower to achieve this , and even more money as far as GDP to have that much control . By the time that is done , there is not much left for the people or anything else for that matter . China is actually turning more socialist , they have had a taste of the good life that a more market economy brings , and as the old guard dies off , the control becomes a little bit less . In probably 30 years or less , North Korea may find itself on its own .

Freedom – thanks for speaking out and for the personal story; don’t blame you at all. I hope everyone here gets to read it. I understand getting off topic a bit, but like I said on that link, I think everyone has something to contribute and despite Anselm’s stance on China, he also passed some good info on working with other cultures and such. If I read something I disagree with I’ll just gloss over it and press on – as already stated, can’t agree with everyone all the time. Hell, my neighbor voted for the current administration, but we’re still friends – we just don’t talk about that (yet)!

Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property... mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.

Novus Ordo, But Anselm was off topic when he started with his stance on china, so what happen is he when into communism in a post that was not about that so I responded to someone that was off topic for that post. The same thing happen with Malgus. Malgus was only responding but he was not the one off topic Anselm was.

So if someone gets off topic then they need to be pointed out. But if I see information that there is NO facts at all anywhere including online that communism lets you own real property which is a lie I need to reason to a lie.

Anselm need to stay on topic.

It is huge topic, here in my (wider) region discussing “good and bad sides of communism” can still be very dramatic.
Because people live very hard today ( past war, unemployment, poverty etc.) lot of folks have tendency to kinda remember the communism like “good times”.

In reality it was time when you could not do what you wanted, or speak what you wanted, no liberties, secret jails etc.
Real life and romanticized imaginations are two different things.

Selco I also think that each country that has gone though communism has been different levels, some are more dictatorship with no liberties and others have some liberties but the two have one thing in common that if you go against it’s politics you will go to jail so free speech is not aloud.

Yes Freedom, that is correct, here it was something like soft version (comparing to some other countries) but still you could even lose your life in that time for wrong words, not to mention long jail time as a “enemy of the state and party”.
