I am reading this right now and am not too sure about it as of yet. It is an easy read, but it is really slow and only grazes the top of what the characters are facing. Of course I am only 1/6 the way through the book, but I can’t tell if it is the writing style or the content that has my wondering if I am just wasting my time. If I was learning something or there was more action at this point I think I would be much more at ease with my book choice…. Again, I am only at page 120 out of 690 on my Nook.
Anyone else read it and if so was it a beneficial read? For point of reference, I do consider One Second After and the Morningstar Strain series as books that were worth the read.
Thank you for any direction or insight.

September 9, 2014 at 2:30 pm #24484Hang in there. Overall I give it a 3.5 out of 4.
RobinSeptember 9, 2014 at 2:43 pm #24488That is reassuring……..
Considering how little time I get to read, I want to get the most bang for my buck – if you will permit me the expression.
Thank you for your response.

September 9, 2014 at 3:17 pm #24490It does get better, but yes at first it is a little dry. If you can get into it and picture yourself in that situation it will be a bit more entertaining.
Canadian Patriot. Becoming self-sufficient.
September 9, 2014 at 3:21 pm #24492I started reading a series called “Holding their own” by Joe Nobody. Also “The Survivalist” series by A. American. Both are totally no thought reading. I like to veg out sometimes so I have them on Kindle. Usually under $10 each.
RobinSeptember 9, 2014 at 3:26 pm #24493Did you read Failure of Civility? It’s not a novel.

September 9, 2014 at 4:56 pm #24499I liked Lights Out, though it is not at the level of One Second After. All of these type books are pretty good about their handling of a portion of the issues we’d face under certain scenarios.
September 9, 2014 at 6:24 pm #24503The “Survivalist” series had so much filthy language that I returned it (to Audible) after 1 hour of listening. I’m not sure if there’s a profanity filter for Audible, but that was an issue for me as a Christian man. Just not worth it. For that reason I liked Rawles’ “Patriots”. I just bought a Kindle version of “A Failure of Civility” which looks very good.
September 9, 2014 at 6:41 pm #24505I particularly like:
