What a simple, amazing thing. I have a ton of twigs collected and cured over the past few months that would be perfect for this. I am getting the block this week – thank you, tweva!

Anika, we ended up putting brick on the top of the block to raise the stove ring up a bit. That helped even out the heat on the pot when we added more fuel – so stuff didn’t burn like in the video. Still worked great.

If you don’t have the H-block you can knock the end out of a regular block so the fire can burn through. Looks like all you need to break is about half way down the center. Leaving the bottom half will keep some of the block’s strength.

tweva, Oh I can do this in my sleep. If you do not have an h brick just cut the side of a brick and use that.

    Thank you.

Reminds me of a stove my old Scoutmaster taught us some 30 years back.

Thanks for the memory, will pass it onto my Scouts.

If you add an additional cinder block on top, the higher ‘chimney’ just might make it burn more efficiently. Just a thought….

Cool idea. I’ve been researching rocket stoves lately so it’s cool to see one on here.

When I get back home in a couple weeks I’ll do a post on making one with some tin cans, much like the one in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p2_OgDBksI

(I’ll make a topic about the guys book also shortly. I’m not finished it yet but I really enjoy it so far)

Great links, Tweva & Mr. Red- will plan to read his book and see what other things he discusses.
