That is cool about the peach leaves, dmarie – my mother used to make “blood poison medicine” from boiled peach leaves, glycerine and iodine, but I’m not sure of the ratios. It worked on puncture wounds, which we were prone to get as children.

I wanted to add this link I’ve had regarding Dakin’s solution, which can easily be made with common items that most people are storing anyway: bleach, baking soda, and water. I have not used this solution, but as someone with a medical background, I wonder if Selco might chime in as to whether it would be effective? (The first chemical item is just unscented bleach.)
