Actually, I suspect the peace treaty would have been just what the doctor ordered, as evidenced by Kerry’s continued involvement starting with Daniel Ortega as shown in the lead photo of one of the articles above, and his attendance at the announcement of the treaty itself, as well as ongoing involvement with the Castro brothers and others that helped in the negotiation process. IF the treaty had passed (or gets crammed down the Colombian people’s throats anyway), it included serious amnesty for some of the most murderous of the Marxist revolutionaries, and inclusion IN the government for some of the FARC leaders. Given that the previous Colombian president, now a legislator if I remember correctly, was the apparent hero in the voting upset, one might conclude that the current president’s loyalties lean far to the opposite direction – he gave away the farm in that treaty. Dr. Obama ought to LOVE it.
