Both American and Australian experience bear him out. Alcohol, Marijuana and various drugs were minuscule problems in America, until they were made illegal. The prohibitions created (1) temporary shortages, (2) a reason for price increases (costs of evading the law) therefore a way for dealers to get rich quick, and (3) another way for the rebellious (mostly teens and young adults) to thumb their noses at authority, which engendered the past (alcohol) and present (drugs) “growth industries.” The pattern will be repeated with firearms and ammunition, if current trends hold.
