What this appears to be doing is just filtering the IR light using the red and blue filters. You can buy IR filters from a camera supply store and recreated the same effect. This device will NOT see thermal (heat) images, it will just light up the area with light not visible to the human eye. Just a side note, ANY camera that can “see” in B/W will “see” in the Infrared spectrum. If you buy or build your own system just make sure that they are “day/night” cameras. During the “day” when light levels are high the camera will produce color video, at “night” the light levels drop below a certain level and the camera automatically produces a B/W video. As a second note, you may or may not need IR leds on your camera, there is a LOT of IR light out there – prior to SHTF. On a third note, if you are using a camera system that utilizes IR lighting post SHTF, ANYONE with night vision goggles will see your place like it is light up for Christmas.
