Not really, you have to start somewhere. A Bermuda rig is a sloop and a good place to start. After you understand the dynamics, can see and feel how a boat is acting you can sail any boat. Making the boat go efficiently at the best tack is what you want to learn. There is a balance between the power of the sails, (the center of effort) and the center of resistance in the hull that changes a little depending on the tack. It’s really incredibly easy to sail a boat. Steer the boat in the desired direction and adjust the airfoil (sail) to it’s most effective trim (no vortexes off the trailing edge and no flapping).
