namelus, what is especially sad for Quebec is that they used to be more integrated into the rest of Canada. My grandmother was born in 1906 in a small village on the Gaspe Peninsula, a place that is remote even today. She grew up bilingual. I went to her village a few years ago and nobody speaks English there anymore. My grandmother was able to come to the US as a young woman and work because she had learned English in school as a kid. That’s not happening anymore.
