Well I went to the parade and it really did give me a good feeling. I think if all of the big cities with their cultural rot and corruption somehow disappeared that small town America could rebuild into something closer to what used to be. Every branch of the military was represented, the VFW, American Legion, police, fire, local politicians, high school bands, a military band, Boy Scouts, pageant queens etc. All the usual players. The Revolutionary War (which is far bigger here culturally than the Civil War) was prominently represented very early in the parade with all of the wars since WWII following later. Patriot music of different eras, and the downtown area was packed with people lining the streets. An old fashioned parade with old fashioned people watching it.
