Robin , funny thing about the Japanese in WW2 , when Stalin attacked manchuria as he promised the western allies , the japanese were expecting more of the same from the Russians as they did on the battlefield with the Americans ……………didnt work out that way , to their horror , they found that the Russians behaved MUCH differently than the Americans , Stalin shipped all those angry battle hardened soldats , that went through the horrible street fighting in Stalingrad and Berlin to the far east . The japanese soon realized that they were fighting an enemy just as brutal and ruthless as they are ………..they didnt know how to handle that . I read an account from an American POW , that was liberated by the Russians in China , he said that the russians gave him a truck to go into a chinese town and take whatever he wanted to bring back to the liberated prisoners . While he was in town , he saw a group of japanese POWs being marched to the train station by the Russians , to unload freight …….after they were done , the Russians marched them behind a building and shot them . Then marched back up the hill for another batch of Japanese . That story actually warms my heart ……………but thats neither here nor there .
