That seems to be the truth. For instance, many people think America caused the USSR to collapse and thus “win” the cold war, even though the USSR was being destroyed more from the inside.
Sorry if I was earlier sounding like I was trying to lecture you,but I still stand by my statement about how authorities react in a collapse may not be the same as you dealt with in the former Yugoslavia.
At any rate, it seems your idea about concerning yourself only with immediate issues is best– I know for sure that many people in the former USSR did this in the 1990s.
Russia at least “bounced back” though. It seems no such thing ever happened in Bosnia.
